The Department of Youth Services has set its firm foundation in youth development, catering to the general needs of a young person. From these 11 centers and its hub, flows the system of 4 units and 2 attached ongoing programs.
Units geared towards an enabling environment for youth empowerment and active citizenship, floods activities and youth involvement on a daily basis. Apart from these units within the central office, young persons are given opportunity to access the popular Music Studio with the assistance of a sound producer in place and a vocal coach. Also included in our central office is daily access to the Resource center, which provides computer and internet access, and free printing for homework and leisure.
Apart from its hub, the three youth centers in the Belize District focus on building relationships with schools and provides life skills workshops to prepare individuals for real life situations. Uniquely, two centers of the Central region are located within vulnerable communities.
The Center in San Pedro uniquely provides an alternative program for youth that come in contact with the law. They are given a skill to equip themselves for employment along with life skills sessions for character development.
